STORIES FOR CHANGE:

20 Oct 2018
9:00am - 3:00pm CDT

Registration for this event has passed

Humans are hardwired to tell and hear stories. Stories are the way we make sense of the world. Stories—when told well—can make all the difference when we want to communicate about an important issue, especially to those who may not share our values and beliefs.

In this six-hour workshop at Synergy Madison Co-Working, each participant will create a one-photo three-minute digital story, a story that connects your own personal experiences to an issue or organization that matters in the world. We will also discuss research on why and how stories can promote change. We will view and discuss examples of stories told for awareness and change: oral stories and digital stories, short personal stories combined with photos/video and sound.

 Cost is $50/person.

Jim Winship, MSW Ph.D, has been facilitating digital storytelling workshops and creating/producing digital stories for a decade. For more on using stories for change/advocacy, go to: beechwoodgtrue.com/blog.
