Calendar 2024
International Calendar 2024: PULLING TOGETHER
The 2024 International Calendar brings you 12 of the 143 countries that have been served by Peace Corps since 1961: Senegal, Nepal, Guinea, Argentina, Morocco, Uganda, Jordan, Colombia, Peru, Ghana, Senegal, Turkmenistan, and Thailand.
This year’s cover photo of Senegalese villagers working together to pull their heavy boat ashore echoes the work of Peace Corps Volunteers (PCVs) around the world AND the effort it takes to pull together and bring you this calendar every year. Published annually since 1988 by the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) of Madison, Wisconsin, the International Calendar shines a light on and celebrates the rich diversity of the world. It is the cornerstone of the “Third Goal” efforts of the Madison-area RPCVs: to help Americans understand the peoples and cultures of other countries..
International Calendar researchers consult solar, lunar, and astronomical calendars to determine the dates of important events each year. From holy days to important civic dates to local market days, the International Calendar is rich in information and cultural diversity. You’ll find demographic information for each featured country, as well as suggested recipes, films, books, and music to explore. For lists of current and past suggestions, click on the "Cultural Resources" button or check out our "Educator Resources".
