The Tabot has been taken out of the church to spend the night near a pool of water. It’s all part of Timket, meaning baptism, which is celebrated every January 19th. Come morning, the water will be blessed and splashed on worshipers, recalling the baptism of Jesus. Afterward the Tabot will be returned to the church in a procession of priests moving to a slow drum-beat and hymnal drone. |
